Obligation that applies by law
Nantes is subject to prior change-of-use authorisation (French Construction and Housing Code, art. L631-7): letting a property that is not your main residence as furnished tourist accommodation requires authorisation from the town hall, sometimes with compensation.

- Co-ownership: owners must inform the building manager (syndic) of the activity; new co-ownership rules must state explicitly whether furnished tourist lets are allowed or prohibited.
